What Change Will Waxman Bring?

The House Energy and Commerce Committee will be under new leadership in the next Congress: Rep. Henry Waxman of California is in, Rep. John Dingell of Michigan is out. How will the change affect congressional efforts to pass climate change legislation?

Should Obama Follow Ambitious Recommendations?

A coalition of 31 national environmental organizations recently called on President-elect Barack Obama to work with Congress to pass ambitious economy-wide climate change legislation, while moving ahead under the Clean Air Act to set greenhouse gas emission limits on electric power plants, cars and fuels. Do you agree with this approach? Is immediate action on global warming necessary?

Did The Supreme Court Choose Wisely?

National security trumped wildlife today in the U.S. Supreme Court's 5-to-4 decision [PDF] allowing the Navy to use active sonar during submarine training off the California coast. Environmentalists unsuccessfully argued that the sonar exercises are damaging some populations of whales. What's your view of this landmark decision? Could the ruling have wider consequences for wildlife protection efforts?
